American Idol and the frog

So I had to break it to Sophie that Amanda Overmyer, her favorite idol, had been kicked off. She was laying in bed watching Curious George. I said, "Sophie, I have some bad news. Amanda was kicked off American Idol last night." Sophie smiles and says, "She can still sing though right, just not on T.V" I told her yes and she said okay. I guess she will need to find a new idol to cheer on.

Then we went to a playdate in the afternoon. It so happened that she turned shy and threw a fit, wanted to be held, and wouldn't even walk down the stairs where everyone was. Finally, I carried her down as well as holding Avery of course. Then she spotted it...a tank with something in it and they weren't fish. After having me ask what it was, it ended up being a tree frog.

Is my daughter shy now? No, she snaps out of her mood, picks up the frog and continues to play with it for the next two hours. The pictures show her in action and just how fearless she was with it!

American Idol

Ok, so one of Sophie's favorite shows these days is American Idol. Her favorite is Amanda Overmyer or as Sophie calls her "THE QUEEN". I'm not quite sure why. Maybe it's the two tone hairdo that reminds her of the evil queen from Snow White. Not sure...She loves to pretend she is Paula and then Jeremy and I have to be Simon and Randy. Just like Paula Sophie always says they did a good job. Even more than watching the show, I think she likes the commercials the best. Her favorite being Simply Orange. If we are fast forwarding through a commercial(thanks to digital cable, how did we live without it) she makes us go back so she can watch Simply Delicious, Simply Orange.
She has also said to me, " Mom did you know there is a litter that clumps before you can smell it?" also, "You should buy disinfecting wipes in the yellow package." Maybe not the target audience they were intended for but they worked none the less.
