Kid Updates

All is well here in the Water household. We are trying to get ready for our big trip to Europe which is in 5 more days. Sophie is packed and most of Avery's things. Now just Jeremy and I need to get our things situated. Wish us luck flying overseas with 2 young kids. This is Avery's first European Adventure and he is almost 9 months, he will actually turn 9 months in Spain and I will turn 35 and Jeremy 33. I guess it could be considered a bithday trip! Avery is doing well, he has his 2 bottom teeth and 4 top teeth. I could be wrong but I have a feeling that he is getting another one up there. He hasn't been eating as well, is drooling again, and crabbier than usual, or so it seems.
He is enjoying the new foods he has tried including mexican rice, refried beans, guacamole, pancakes, pear slices, yogurt, and his new favorite whipped cream!
He moves everwhere and is totally different than his sister was at his age. He is into EVERYTHING! Maybe it's the boy in him but he goes after anything in his reach. Outlets, cords, dog dishes, he's not too picky. We really have to make sure there are no tiny toys on the floor. Not an easy task when big sister Sophie has craft stuff EVERYWHERE.

Sophie is getting ready for her final days of preschool. They had caterpillars that just turned into butterflies and they will soon let them go. Also, a tadpole that they are waiting on to turn into a frog. Her last day is May 21st and will be celebrated by a class picnic at a local park.
She was such a sweetie today. Playing nicely with her toys when I can't play with her, listening to directions, and being a great big sis! Today she said, "I love my brother, I am so happy to have a brother. Also, "You are the best mom. No one else has a mom like you!" Talk about making me feel good. I asked her why I was the best mom and she replies, "Because you let me have candy all the time." Not quite true but I'll take it. She then said, "Because you always like me no matter what." Why can't they be like this everyday? Life would be that much sweeter!

Rain pics

Splashing in the rain

Now that the spring weather is finally here, the rain has come with it. I don't mind it so much. I love to sleep with the rain pouring outside. Sophie on the other hand loves it for different reasons, the puddles. Whenever it rains she asks, "Can I go outside and splash in the puddles." Here are some pics from a rainy day when Sophie donned her rain galoshes and had some fun outside. Note the fancy dress and Tiffany necklace of mine she's wearing. I think it's a good look with the rain boots! It just might catch on...

Early Mother's Day gift

More fun with a box!
Matching pajama girls

The doorbell rang, we got a package. Sophie insisted it was for her even though the name said Becki Water. We opened it up and there were two boxes inside, one for me and one for her. This is what was inside. An early Mother's Day present from George and Bette. Too cute....thanks again! I don't know what was a bigger hit, the boxes or pajamas!

Artwork

School is almost over and Sophie is excited for kindergarten. She went to her roundup two weeks ago and met the teachers although we won't know until fall which one it will be. She said she had to cut out an apple, write her name on the back, tell them the capital letters when shown to her, and listen to a story. Her writing is really coming along well as you can see in the following pictures.

She is also interested in what things say. She will ask how to spell things and sounds out the word when we help her along. She is very curious in knowing what words mean when we read stories at bedtime if it is one she doesn't recognize. Which is good practice for us as well. Things aren't as easy to explain as one might think.

Gymnastics Class

So although Sophie refused to do the warm up part of gymnastics the whole 8 weeks of class, even though bribed, she really did enjoy it. She says her favorite is the bars and the balance beam. Every patio border she now sees is a beam to practice on. We are taking a break due to our vacation but she says she wants to take it again. Here are some pictures from her last class.

Tub Time

The bath is a favorite pastime in our house for the two munchkins. Avery has graduated to a seat and Sophie loves to help him get clean.
